Because of earlier allegations of abuse, police treated her death as suspicious. Her husband was booked on suspicion of murder but was released on 24 August 2007 without any charges being filed. The coroner found no needle marks, and toxicology showed only a minimal amount of methadone. Haley Paige’s cause of death was never officially determined. Her husband was himself found dead a few weeks later, in late September 2007.

Her death shocked fans and colleagues, and she is still remembered as one of the bright, promising stars of her era.
